With the NFC East wide open for the taking, this is a pivotal divisional matchup in the first half of the season. The Cowboys stunned the world when they not only beat the Jaguars but blew them out, 40-7. On the other side, the Redskins have been a seesaw so far through five games...win, loss, win, loss, win. The pattern says they would lose this game, but luckily for them, that pattern means almost nothing. The Cowboys have won the past four matchups against the Redskins, but have yet to win on the road this season. This should be a heck of a divisional matchup in what figures to be a low-scoring game.

The Cowboys offense showed up last week, which hasn't been the case for most of the season. Dak Prescott played mistake-free, threw two TDs, and ran for a career-high 82 yards. When Prescott is running with the football, this offense is much more dynamic. Ezekiel Elliott has had to carry this offense so far this season, while Prescott has struggled to move the ball down the field. Maybe last week was the start of an offensive turnaround, although Prescott still didn't reach 200 yards passing in the game. Cole Beasley had a breakout performance with 101 yards and two TDs in the 40-7 beatdown of the Jags. As we get closer to the trade deadline, expect the Cowboys to try and get some help at the receiver position, especially with them being right there in that divisional race.
Adrian Peterson continues to show us that age is just a number. At 33, Peterson has looked a few years younger at times this season. He ran for 97 yards last week and the Redskins hope to have his running mate Chris Thompson back this week, who has been great for Alex Smith as a receiver too. Having Thompson makes the offense be able to do a lot more, including screens and short dump offs to move the ball down the field. Josh Norman had a strong game against his former squad last week and continues to play well in the Redskins secondary along with D.J. Swearinger. The key to this game will be Ryan Kerrigan and the Redskins front seven being able to stop Elliott and force the Cowboys to beat them passing the football.
