If it weren't for the Minneapolis Miracle, this would have been last season's NFC Championship matchup. Entering this season, this game looked like another potential playoff preview. But the Philadelphia Eagles have been a difficult team to read, and at 4-5, they are in some trouble. Maybe it's a Super Bowl hangover or maybe last season was a one-off. Now they have to face the hottest team in the NFL. The New Orleans Saints have not lost since Week 1. It's hard to see the Eagles knocking them off right now, especially in the Superdome.

The Saints put up 52 points against the Bengals in Cincinnati last week as they continue to steamroll their opponents. They became the third team in NFL history to score 40-plus points in five of its first nine games. Drew Brees passed Brett Favre for second all-time with 509 career TD passes. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram continue to be Bonnie and Clyde in the backfield, combining for 268 yards from scrimmage last week. The Saints lost Dez Bryant for the season before he could even get into a game, but they replaced him with veteran Brandon Marshall. That will be a welcome addition to an offense that definitely could use another receiver. On defense, Eli Apple made his presence felt with his new team, picking off his first pass in a Saints uniform. Let's see if the Saints drop 40 again this week.
The Eagles really needed to win at home against the Cowboys on Sunday night, and their offense played very poorly. They were hoping the addition of Golden Tate would spark them to a divisional win. Instead, they fell under .500 at 4-5. With the NFC East still up for grabs and four games against teams in their division left, even a loss to the Saints wouldn't end their hopes, but it would put them in a spot where they likely would need to win out. Carson Wentz hasn't been able to get the ball down the field like he did last season. Tight end Zach Ertz has been their leading receiver and Wendell Smallwood has been their leading rusher. That tells you a lot about an offense that has only exceeded 24 points in a game against the lowly Giants. We have yet to see the explosiveness from this team, and not having a quality running game is one big reason why. Fletcher Cox, Michael Bennett, and Malcolm Jenkins have played well anchoring the defense, but they have a whole lot of work cut out for them against the dynamic Saints.
