We could look back at head coach "Riverboat Ron" Rivera going for two as a turning point in the wrong direction for this Carolina Panthers season, especially if they lose this game at home against the Seattle Seahawks. The gamble to play for the win in regulation did not pay off, resulting in a 20-19 loss that dropped his team to 6-4. They still have a hold on the top Wild Card spot, but a number of teams are lurking -- including this week's opponent. The Seahawks (5-5) have a chance to move into playoff position with a win. This one should be a hell of a game down in Charlotte.

This is a big game for the Seahawks. Four of their final five games are at home, and they get to play the San Francisco 49ers twice and the Arizona Cardinals once. Seattle is coming off a huge home win over the Green Bay Packers last Thursday, and they got a few extra days of rest under their belt. Russell Wilson plays his best when games are on the line. He has 26 TD passes in the fourth quarter since 2017, the most in the NFL over that span. His main man has been Tyler Lockett, but Doug Baldwin has slowly come around in what's been the worst year of his career. Expect the Seahawks to lean on the rushing trio of Chris Carson, Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny. On defense, Frank Clark has been the one to watch with a team-high 10 sacks. The front seven will be going at Cam Newton.
Newton hurt his ankle last week. It seemed as if he was a bit bothered by it when he returned to finish the game, though he was able to lead what should have been a game-tying drive. But he couldn't convert the two-point conversion despite having two open receivers and running space if he wanted to do it himself. The Panthers need the Cam that runs with the football and makes plays outside the pocket, which means the ankle must be close to 100 percent for him to be effective. Rookie WR D.J. Moore showed out last week with 157 yards and a TD. The defense led by Luke Kuechly will try to force Wilson into making dangerous throws down the field. This is a pivotal game for both teams that will have a huge effect on the Wild Card standings in the NFC.
