There is getting off to a hot start in a game and then there is doing what the Boston Celtics did to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
The Celtics pulverized the Nets in the first quarter, jumping out to a 46-16 lead — the largest lead after the first quarter in franchise history.

The charge was led by Jayson Tatum, who dropped 18 points — two more than the entire Nets team in the quarter. The Celtics forward was 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc while also collecting six rebounds.
The Nets were without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons, but Kyrie Irving — who continued to be booed and heckled by Celtics fans — was still in the starting lineup for Brooklyn.
While the Nets were winners of their last two games heading into Wednesday, the Celtics entered the game with the best record in the NBA (36-15) and certainly reminded everyone why that is.
Needless to say, the impressive first quarter from the Celtics had a strong reaction on Twitter:
