Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is thinking big after his team snapped a recent funk with a season-saving 27-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
The Cowboys still being just 4-5 -- two games back of the Washington Redskins for the NFC East lead -- didn't stop the showman in Jones from issuing some grand proclamations Tuesday morning on his weekly show with 105.3 The Fan's Shan & RJ.
"This team has a chance, I think, to be a team that we remember for a long time," Jones said as his team enters its bye week.
The Cowboys' path to the playoffs in the NFC is likely through capturing the division title, and there are some reasons for confidence. The Cowboys (+10) and defending Super Bowl champion Eagles (+15), who are tied for second place, each have superior point differentials to the Redskins (+1) through nine games.
"This league is designed to be .500," Jones said. "To break out of that, you're going to have to do some things that go against the [grain]."
Jones, also the team's general manager, loves his roster -- which recently added wide receiver Amari Cooper in a controversial trade: "I do think, we've put together here, one of the best personnel groups we've ever had."
