Jordan Mailata has been in Philly long enough to know that fans will let you hear it if you’re not playing well.

So when a fan jabbed him about his propensity for singing Christmas carols, he was prepared.

The Eagles have been in poor form lately, dropping back-to-back games in ugly fashion to the 49ers and Cowboys. Panic is swirling in Philadelphia as a result, although Eagles players have been steadfast in their belief they will get back on track.

But it’s the holiday season, and for the second year in a row Mailata, the Eagles’ Australian offensive tackle, released an album of Christmas carols alongside teammates. That apparently was the subject of a taunt from an Eagles fan, who confronted Mailata by telling him to stop singing Christmas carols after their second straight loss.

“That was hilarious,” Mailata told Jon Marks and Ike Reese on Tuesday. “I’ve been in Philly a long time, so I knew that was going to come around, I ain’t going to lie to you. When it did, I was like ah, you kind of manifested it. But that was funny, I ain’t gonna lie. That was funny. …

“Philly is a prideful city, and they feel like they’re out there with us on the field. So, I get it, I totally get it.”

The Eagles face the Seahawks on Monday before playing the Giants on Christmas, so there's plenty of time for Mailata and Co. to inject some jolliness back into the city.
