Kansas City TV station mocked for 'against all odds' tweet after Chiefs loss

The Kansas City Chiefs have gone on an incredible run the last four years, hosting the AFC Championship Game each season and going to the Super Bowl twice, including winning it all in the 2019 season.

Which is why a tweet from a local Kansas City TV station following Sunday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals so odd.

KMBC posted a graphic of Patrick Mahomes throwing which read:

“We were never supposed to be here. They counted us out. They put us down. But this team battled back. We did it once, we’ll do it again. Thank you for an incredible ride this year.”

The station even began the caption of the tweet with “AGAINTS ALL ODDS” as the headline.

While the Chiefs did get off to a slow start this year, leading the graphic with “we were never supposed to be here” is simply just not true.

The Chiefs have been the team to beat in the AFC for the last four years and were the preseason betting favorite to win the Super Bowl. They had the second-best record this year and were seven-point favorites to beat the Bengals on Sunday.

If anything, no one expected the Bengals to be here, beating the mighty Chiefs at Arrowhead for a chance to win the Super Bowl.

Of course, the tweet went viral for all the wrong reasons with lots of people ripping the TV station.

Perhaps they should have just stuck with “Thank you for an incredible ride this year” and left it at that.
