BOSTON (WEEI.com) -- Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is seen in video footage, published Friday afternoon by TMZ, shoving and kicking a woman.
TMZ reports the footage dates from Feb. 10 at a downtown Cleveland hotel. The incident has been known to the NFL and the Chiefs since that time; it is unclear who had seen the video prior to Friday.
According to TMZ, the 19-year-old woman told police the altercation started when Hunt kicked her out of his room when she refused to hook up with someone he was associated with.
Hunt is seen in the video arguing with the woman in the hallway, where he pushes her several times. Later, Hunt can be seen shoving someone into the woman, who falls and hits her head. Hunt then is seen kicking her after she slowly tries to get to her feet.
The police were called, but no arrests were made. According to the report, officers said they couldn't determine if a crime was committed.
The tape is reminiscent of the Ray Rice incident. The Baltimore Ravens running back was suspended indefinitely after TMZ published hotel security camera footage of Rice punching his then-fiancee.
On a football level, Hunt's status going forward could impact the entire AFC landscape. The Chiefs are 9-2 on the strength of their high-powered offense, of which Hunt is a crucial ingredient. The second-year pro, who led the NFL in rushing as a rookie, is fifth in the league this season with 824 rushing yards and also has 378 receiving yards.
