The accolades continue to pile up in the young career of Luka Doncic. He was Rookie of the Year. He's been an All-Star and a first-team All-NBA selection twice in his three-year career. He's posted stat lines that have only been matched by very few. He's currently seeking an Olympic medal for a Slovenian national team that certainly can't be counted out. Etc., etc., etc.

Now, you can add that he is officially the cover athlete of the best NBA video game, in my humble opinion, that exists today. On Wednesday morning, it was announced that the 22-year-old would be gracing the cover of NBA 2K22, along with Candace Parker — the first female athlete in the history of the 2K franchise — and the trio of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant. Perhaps that third cover is the "unguardable shot" edition of the game, as all three of those legends would certainly fit the bill.
"Making the global cover of NBA 2K22 is special for me," Doncic said. "I'm proud to represent my country in a special cover that honors the colors of the Slovenian flag. Basketball has given me so much, and I'm excited to give back and work together with 2K Foundations this year to help the lives of young kids around the globe."
The video game brand released a video of Doncic and their special motion capture technology in order to create his animations for MyCareer mode, as well as a video featuring interviews with Abdul-Jabbar, Nowitzki and Durant about being included on the same cover with each other.
Of her inclusion on the cover, Parker was excited for the progress it represents in the representation of women in sports.
The cover of NBA 2K is such a pivotal platform to inspire young ballers, and I wanted future WNBA stars to know that they can be cover athletes too,” Parker said. “Representation matters, so this is a special moment of progress for the sport and the series. To be part of this historic cover is a testament to the growth and rising popularity of the women’s game, and I’m proud to be the first female cover athlete to be the face of NBA 2K."
You can pre-order the game now on the official 2K website.
