Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel isn't going to stand in the way of new teammates Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle racing at some point this offseason.

While McDaniel also said that he doesn't intend to force Hill and Waddle to race, the eccentric first-year head coach did offer tips to the assembled media for how to convince the two to face off:

It doesn't sound as though the two will need to be convinced, with Waddle saying in an appearance last month on "I Am Athlete" that he does expect to run against Hill, who may very well be the fastest player in NFL history.

Waddle unofficially ran a 4.37 40-yard dash as far back as high school, but he didn't run the 40-yard dash in advance of the 2021 NFL Draft, both because the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NFL Combine to be cancelled and because he was still working his way back from a broken right ankle that he suffered while starring for Alabama.

For what it's worth, Hill -- now 28 -- ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at West Alabama's pro day in 2016.
