Many on social media trolled the Los Angeles Lakers following their elimination from the play-in tournament, losing to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, 121-110.
Quite possibly the best reaction came from the New Orleans Pelicans Twitter account, deciding to dust off a three-year-old reference to troll their former star, Anthony Davis.
Twitter didn't take long to piece together the puzzle. Back in 2019, Davis infamously wore a shirt with the Looney Tunes sign-off, " That's all folks," after he and his agent Rich Paul made it known that he wanted out of New Orleans.
Although Davis said it was unintentional at the time, it's hard to believe that the eight-time All-Star didn't know what he was doing by wearing that shirt.
The franchise ended up trading Davis to the Lakers in July of 2019 for a bevy of players and draft picks. Davis went on to win the NBA Championship in his first season in Los Angeles during the NBA Bubble, but now, things seem to be trending downwards for a Lakers team that were the odds on favorites to win the Western Conference this season.
While Davis and the rest of the Lakers roster takes their early vacation trip to Cancun, the Pelicans clinched a spot in the play-in tournament and will play the San Antonio Spurs once the regular season concludes on Sunday against the Warriors.
