NEW YORK (WFAN.com) -- The Giants didn't lose last week. They had their bye.
They are back at it Monday night as they take on the 49ers in San Francisco, and they will stick with Eli Manning at quarterback, despite his struggles and the team's 1-7 record.
Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said he spoke with the 37-year-old Manning and emphasized that everyone needs to improve.
Shurmur also said Tuesday that backup QB Kyle Lauletta would not be suspended following his traffic arrest. Shurmur said he has spoken to Lauletta numerous times since the incident and there are "internal consequences." Lauletta may have had a chance to start, but the timing of his arrest was awful.
"The incident that happened last week is a terrible representation of who I am and what I stand for. Right is right and wrong is wrong. My parents raised me better than that. It's tough, and I have to take it as a lesson and move forward from it. I have to deal with the consequences, and that's that."
The 49ers are 2-7 after third-string QB Nick Mullens led them to a victory last Thursday night.
