Nick Sirianni spent much of his Friday night like many others in Philadelphia: on the edge of his seat.
It was that evening that the Phillies uncorked a six-run ninth inning to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 in Game 1 of their Wild Card Series, which Philly would put the finishing touches on a day later.
The Eagles coach said Monday in his weekly appearance on “Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team” that he’s enjoying the ride.
"I know it's a hot ticket and I'm really looking forward to supporting them and I'm really excited for their coach and their players," Sirianni said. "I know my son played baseball all summer and he always had that Bryce Harper jersey on and I thought that was pretty cool. That's exciting.
“I was saying at the press conference the other day, I got home Friday, I got home around the seventh inning. My sons and I just sat there on the couch on that gloomy day, that gloomy fall day, and watched the end of that Friday game where we scored six runs in the ninth. Was it the ninth? I think it was, yeah. My wife is from Missouri and my father-in-law is a huge Cardinals fan. It was fun rubbing it in my father-in-law's face that the Phillies whipped their tail."
Sirianni won’t have to wait long before the Phillies are in action again. They’ll begin the NLDS against the Braves on Tuesday, with first pitch from Truist Park set for 1:07 p.m. ET.
