The injury bug continues to haunt the Mets.

Noah Syndergaard was removed after one inning from his rehab start in Class-A St. Lucie on Tuesday night due to right elbow soreness, according to the team.

It was the second scheduled rehab start for the 28-year-old right-hander since he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last spring.

Syndergaard had made his first rehab start last week for St. Lucie, tossing four innings and touching 97 mph on the radar gun. The Mets had planned to have Syndergaard toss another four innings on Tuesday and continue to increase his innings count with a potential mid-June return.

Syndergaard underwent Tommy John surgery last March shortly after spring training ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic and has not pitched in a MLB game since 2019.

The Mets have been reeling with injuries of late, which have included recent IL stints for Pete Alonso, Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil, J.D. Davis, Kevin Pillar, Taijuan Walker and Brandon Nimmo.

Two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom returned from his brief IL stint on Tuesday night and was touching 100 mph on the radar gun.
