(WEEI) FOXBORO -- Josh Gordon was back at the New England Patriots facility on Monday following his reinstatement, which meant the bulk of Bill Belichick's press conference was focused on the wide receiver.
Of course, Belichick was up to his usual press conference routine when pressed with any sort of Gordon questions.
First, he was asked if he met with Gordon on Monday?
"I meet with the players every day," he said.
Was he excited about the opportunity to return to football?
"I released a statement on that," Belichick said. "I have nothing to add to it. That is where we're at."
What about physically?
"I think I have already covered all that," he said.
Finally, Belichick could not help himself much longer. The normally bland head coach began cracking a smile and was openly messing around with the reporters.
"Did you get a copy of the statement? ... Sorry, I don't do MyFace, but we're happy to give you a copy of it," he said with a smile. "That is where I am at."
If you're wondering what his statement said, it was about what you'd expect. He said, "For the past eight months, Josh's statement has been entirely a league matter. When Josh returns to our program, we will evaluate the entire situation and do what we feel is best for Josh and the team."
So, naturally, the reporters continued to press him to elaborate a bit on his statement. But Belichick had more jokes in mind.
"He hasn't even been on the field yet," he said. "I think I covered it. There is nothing more to add.
"Is there another line of questioning, or can the witness step down now?"
Gordon was present in the Patriots locker room, but it's unlikely he practices with the team considering he is on NFI.
