Think Boston fans love Mac Jones? Well you’d be right. The Patriots rookie got a hero’s welcome from fans during Thursday night’s Bruins/Capitals game at TD Garden, appearing on the Jumbotron beside teammates David Andrews and Hunter Henry. Andrews wasted no time stealing the spotlight from the quarterback he spent all year protecting, chugging like a seasoned vet.
Fans were upset the camera panned away from Andrews before he could finish his beer, but the Jumbotron operator made sure to rectify that during the third period, culminating in this glorious moment of debauchery.
If fans were upset with how the Patriots performed Saturday in Buffalo, they didn’t show it Thursday, supporting Jones and his teammates wholeheartedly with thunderous applause. Maybe Jones should attend games more often as his presence seemed to bring the Bruins good luck with Charlie McAvoy supplying the go-ahead goal in a 4-3 Boston victory. David Pastrnak also contributed a pair of goals, giving him nine over his last seven games.
