While all the trade talk may be centered around Juan Soto, many are also wondering if the Los Angeles Angels should begin a fire sale starting with two-way All-Star Shohei Ohtani.
If that were to happen, Pete Alonso would be more than happy to welcome him into Queens.

“That would be great,” Alonso said if Ohtani were to join the Mets. “He’s an All-Star caliber player, he’s an MVP. He has so much talent, he’d be great. He’d be more than welcome [in] Queens.”
The Mets head into the All-Star break atop first in the NL East with a desire to win a World Series and will be looking to bolster their roster in various ways ahead of the Aug. 2 trade deadline.
Ohtani, meanwhile, is putting together another stellar season on the mound and at the plate despite the Angels once again underachieving with a 39-53 season. He has a 2.38 ERA and 123 strikeouts over 87 innings pitched while also slugging 19 home runs and 56 RBI with am .880 OPS at the plate.
Ohtani will be a free agent at the end of next season (2023) but the Angels’ losing ways have many wondering if a trade could be in the cards, perhaps more likely in the offseason.
It is certainly worth keeping an eye on as Alonso probably is not the only one who would welcome a talent like Ohtani to their team.
