The Jerami Grant saga is over -- so is his time in Detroit.
GM Troy Weaver and the Pistons have traded Grant to the Trail Blazers for a 2025 first-round pick via the Bucks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Detroit will also swap second-round picks with Portland in Thursday's draft, jumping from No. 46 to No. 36.
In addition, the Pistons get the more favorable of two second-round picks from the Trail Blazers in 2026.
Grant has been a bargain for Detroit the past two seasons, averaging about 20 points per game while making $20 million per year. But the 28-year-old forward is up for a four-year, $112 million extension this summer and doesn't fit the timeline of the Pistons' rebuild.
The Pistons have been fielding calls on Grant since the trade deadline, and Portland was always rumored to be his top suitor as it tries to build a winner around Damian Lillard; he and Grant were teammates on Team USA at last summer's Olympics.
Weaver could use the extra first-round pick acquired in Wednesday's trade to attempt to move up the draft board on Thursday. The Pistons, who currently pick No. 5, are reportedly interested in trading up to No. 4 to select Purdue point guard Jaden Ivey.
With Grant's contract -- and his potential extension -- off the books, the Pistons will also have more cap space to work with this summer, where they're rumored to be eyeing center Deandre Ayton in free agency.
