Colin Kaepernick getting a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders might help open the floodgates for the quarterback to get similar opportunities.
After being blackballed by the NFL, Kaepernick finally got a workout with a team after five years. The Raiders gave the 34-year-old a shot this week, bringing him in for a workout that supposedly went well.

It’s not fully clear why the Raiders chose now to look at Kaepernick. Whatever the cause, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio said Thursday on the “Rich Eisen Show” that Vegas wasn’t alone in keeping tabs.
“I’m told there were a couple of other teams that were already interested in him before this Raiders workout,” Florio said. “Now, time will tell whether or not those two teams do anything about it, but this Raiders workout goes a long way towards finally turning the page.
“After five years, we’ve finally crossed that boundary and he’s gotten a workout and the Raiders are still standing today. And I think that may help other teams become willing to bring the guy in and see what he can do.”
It remains to be seen what the Raiders do with Kaepernick now that they’ve seen him work out. Maybe he gets an offer, or maybe he decides to see what else is out there now that word is out that the workout went well.
Either way, this week’s workout was a huge step towards Kaepernick potentially getting back into the NFL.
