The Texas Rangers are not messing around.

A day after signing Marcus Semien to a seven-year deal, the Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement with Corey Seager for a 10-year contract worth $325 million, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The deal does not have any opt-outs and includes a limited no-trade clause, per multiple reports.

Following news of the Semien deal, it was reported that it did not disqualify the Rangers from pursuing another shortstop – either Seager or Texas native Trevor Story.

Semien could easily move over to second base, where he has played in the past, while Seager would play shortstop in what is arguably the best middle infield, at least offensively, in baseball.

With both Semien and Seager on the Rangers, the remaining premiere shortstops in the free agent class include Carlos Correa, Trevor Story and Javier Baez.

Seager, 27, is a two-time All-Star and World Series MVP who has a career slash line of .297/.367/.504. He is coming off a season in which he hit .306 with a .915 OPS, slugging 16 home runs and 57 RBI in 95 games with the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers had expressed interest in retaining Seager while the shortstop was also linked to the New York Yankees, who are looking to upgrade at the position.

Instead he joins a Rangers team that lost 102 games last season but is spending big in free agency.

Between Seager, Semien and starting pitcher Jon Gray, the Rangers have invested $556 million in guaranteed money between those three players.

The AL West in general has been very busy, with the Mariners adding 2021 Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray earlier on Monday, the Angels signing Noah Syndergaard and Astros bringing back Justin Verlander earlier this month.
