Some more details have trickled out surrounding the mysterious resignation of Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Williams’ resignation was the result of “inappropriate activity” and that the Bears’ human resources department was part of the process that led to his resignation on Wednesday.
Schefter added that Williams was not involved in any criminal activity, confirming what Williams’ lawyer told 670 The Score’s Parkins & Spiegel Show.
The Bears did conduct a digital forensic search of Williams, although that is standard procedure for the process of resignation, per Schefter.
The 53-year-old defensive coordinator’s resignation came after he missed last Sunday’s game for personal reasons and did not show up to the facility on Wednesday prior to the announcement he was resigning.
Williams said in a statement he was “taking a step back to take care of my health and family.”
