Weeks of speculation over longtime Packers star Aaron Rodgers' future came to a merciful end on Tuesday, when multiple reports said the reigning NFL MVP would be staying in Green Bay.
Rodgers and the Pack were said to be in agreement on a record four-year deal that would make him the highest-paid player in league history.
While there's little doubt about Rodgers' continued brilliance on the field, his off-field antics and seeming long-running flirtations with either leaving the Packers or retiring altogether has left many pundits and fans feeling exhausted.
Tuesday's development prompted a flood of funny posts on social media, with some roasting Rodgers over his apparent courting of drama, while others focused on his favorite bogeyman -- "cancel culture." Others crushed the Packers for trading up two years ago to draft quarterback Jordan Love, who now seems destined for a new home with Rodgers locked up long-term.
Many Steelers fans also offered up their thoughts, after their team was rumored to be one of the organizations in the mix for for the four-time league MVP, who ironically knocked off Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XLV for his lone Lombardi Trophy.
Here's what some users were saying on Twitter:
Can't wait for Aaron Rodgers to go on Pat McAfee's show and drop some zen word salad about money not being a factor for him.

Aaron Rodgers spent the entire season spreading COVID misinformation and generally making a huge ass of himself, and now he’s the highest-paid player in NFL history.

So much for that cancel culture he kept bitching about.
As a Steelers fan I’m just relieved that I don’t have to rationalize supporting Aaron Rodgers to my friends
