The Browns put in an excellent effort for a huge comeback win in Baltimore on Sunday afternoon. They trailed 7-0 just 40 seconds into the game after Deshaun Watson threw a pick-six. It was 14-0 Ravens a few minutes later after a Browns three-and-out. But they battled back.
Cleveland erased a 31-17 fourth-quarter deficit as Dustin Hopkins redeemed himself with a walk-off field goal to beat the Ravens 33-31.
Daryl Ruiter and Andy Baskin of the Audacy original podcast “It’s Always Gameday In Cleveland” discussed where the Browns’ comeback win in Baltimore ranks in Cleveland’s recent history.
“Man, this was an impressive win,” Ruiter said (16:30 in player above). “It might be one of the most impressive wins of the Kevin Stefanski era.”
The Browns are now 32-27 since Stefanski took over in 2020 but this victory may top them all. It may even be one of the best going back a few decades.
“You could say it was one of the most impressive wins post-’99,” Baskin said. “There just aren’t that many of them.”
Not only was this an impressive win, but it was an even more important win for the Browns.
“You know what? I think that this was the most consequqential win for the Cleveland Browns since the Phil Dawson stanchion win in overtime in Baltimore in 2007,” Ruiter continued. “Just because of what this victory means to this season for this team.”
The Browns (and Steelers) are now 6-3 and just one win behind the 7-3 Ravens in the AFC North with Pittsburgh coming to town next week.
After that, Cleveland has quite a few winnable games the rest of the way. The playoffs are well within reach and a division title isn't out of the question.
