The Detroit Lions coaching staff is facing a difficult situation this week stemming from the team’s positive COVID-19 tests on Tuesday.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, almost all members of the Lions’ defensive coaching staff have been considered to be close contacts, as well has interim head coach Darrell Bevell.

The significant amount of close contacts could result in several coaches being unavailable for Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which the Lions are trying to determine.

The Lions closed their team facilities on Tuesday due to positive COVID-19 tests which were believed to be a result from the Lions travel, per Rapoport.

On Wednesday, the team announced there were no new positives but planned to hold practice outdoors.

The coaches who were considered close contact risks will remain from the team until further notice and will meet with players virtually.
