The Pittsburgh Steelers have their replacement for Devin Bush.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets have dealt inside linebacker Avery Williamson and a 2022 seventh-round pick to the Steelers in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick.
The Jets, who fell to 0-8 on Sunday, have been in full sell mode and collecting draft capital while the undefeated Steelers are able to fill a void left by Bush after he tore his ACL against the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago.
Williamson, 28, is playing in his first season since sustaining the same injury as Bush last year during preseason game in which Adam Gase left him in for an extra possession to play with the second stringers, which cost him the entire 2019 season and forced to take a pay cut for the 2020 season.
Williamson was second on the Jets with 55 tackles, and has an interception and three passes defended through seven games this season. He led the Jets with 120 tackles in his last full season in 2018.
He will be joining a Steelers team that boasts one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL, which entered Sunday allowing 19.7 points per game – good for sixth-best in the league.
