Stephen A. Smith may want to stick to sports -- or at least brush up on his social media skills.
The longtime hot-take purveyor fired off a series of Twitter posts about the shocking Oscars incident in which legendary actor Will Smith stormed the stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock in response to a joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The only problem was, Stephen A., who boasts some 5.6 million followers on the platform, evidently tagged the wrong Will Smith in his tweets -- instead directing his outrage at a different person of the same name who is a podcaster and an employee of a video game development company.
Will Smith the podcaster seemed to be catching plenty of heat over the Oscar winner's head-turning stunt, and fired off a couple tweets in response.
"Real talk, I'm not the person you're upset/happy with," Smith said. "I make podcasts and video games for a living."
According to his Twitter bio, the San Francisco-based user seems to go by "notthatwillsmith" on Twitch, a useful distinction. In fact, the actor doesn't seem to have a Twitter presence at all, while yet another Will Smith -- the Los Angeles Dodgers catcher -- can be found at @will_smith30.
But confusion abounds on Twitter, and Stephen A. seems to be among those who got his signals crossed.
The ESPN pundit later posted a video further explaining his thoughts on the smack heard round the world -- this time without tagging any user.
