Jahlani Tavai can’t knock Jabrill Peppers for his candor following the Patriots’ loss to the Giants.

In a move that surely won’t thrill Bill Belichick, NFL Films released video of Peppers’ interaction with Saquon Barkley following New England’s dreadful 10-7 loss to the Giants. As Peppers, who used to play for the Giants, embraced the running back, he cracked “you lucky we ass.”

While the message isn’t exactly wrong, that’s probably something Peppers and others were hoping wouldn’t be made for public consumption.

Tavai was asked about the video Friday in his weekly appearance on The Greg Hill Show. He hadn’t seen it, but when told his teammate’s remarks he couldn’t help but laugh.

“It is what it is what he said. I’m not frustrated about what he said,” Tavai then said. “We’re all caught up with emotions and I’m sure he was as well. We weren’t happy with the outcome, so sometimes our emotions get the best of us and I’m sure that happened, but I have nothing against Pepps.

“Pepps is out there every day, every game busting his butt, so I can’t be frustrated or mad about it. Just got to make sure we play better so we don’t have that recurring theme where somebody thinks we’re ass on our own team.”
