Ingram has started all seven games this season for Houston (1-6), leading the team in rushing with 294 yards on the ground and a touchdown. The 11th-year veteran was a first-round draft pick by the Saints in 2011 and was named to the Pro Bowl twice there.

Ingram moved on to the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and 2020, when current Texans head coach David Culley was an offensive assistant there. Ingram was a Pro Bowler again in 2019.

The Texans signed Ingram this offseason to a one-year, $3 million contract. He was widely considered to be one of the team leaders, both on the field and in the locker room.

It was not immediately clear what compensation the Texans would get in return.

What did seem clear is Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who also played with Ingram in New Orleans, was not happy. Cooks, normally mild-mannered and positive on social media, posted this message shortly after the Ingram news.
