The relationship between Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans seems to have reached a point where it is beyond repair, but the Texans do not seem to think so.

Despite the trade speculation swirling around the 25-year-old star quarterback, the Texans are telling teams that are calling that they do not have plans to trade Watson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Per an NFL Network report, the Texans have not even bothered to return phone calls or text messages from other teams inquiring about Watson.

Texans GM Nick Caserio has repeatedly stated the team would not trade Watson publicly, but there seems to be a significant amount of work the Texans must do if they believe they can repair their relationship with Watson.

The team recently fired equipment manager Mike Parson and his staff, which has is reportedly not sitting well among players. Watson in particular had a close relationship with Parson.

Watson, whose unhappiness began boiling over with the team’s GM search and extended into the head coaching search, signed a $156 million extension with the Texans before the start of last season, which included a no-trade clause.

But Watson is reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause, with a preference for teams such as the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.

Per NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms, Watson may also be willing to sit out the 2021 season if he is not traded.

As the offseason progresses, there is sure to be more twists and turns in the Watson saga.
