There will be an NFC Championship rematch on the golf course this summer.
“The Match” is returning and so is the duo of Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady as they will take on Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau in the latest iteration of the head-to-head celebrity golf competition, according to the Sports Business Journal.
“The Match” is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6 in Montana and will be broadcast on TNT live at 5 p.m. ET.
Mickelson and Brady were teammates in “The Match” last spring when they teed off against Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods in a made-for-TV competition to provide fans entertainment during the height of the coronavirus pandemic when sports were halted.
Manning and Woods won the competition, which raised $20 million for COVID-19 relief.
While Brady struggled on the course, one of the highlights was when he holed his approach shot for birdie on a par-5 while trash-talking Charles Barkley.
Rodgers, whose future in Green Bay remains uncertain, will see if he can get the best of Brady on the golf course after the 43-year-old quarterback defeated him and the Packers in the NFC Championship Game earlier this year, en route to Brady’s seventh Super Bowl title.
Whether or not Rodgers will have a definitive answer on where he will be playing next season also adds some intrigue as viewers could tune in to see if the MVP quarterback may drop a hint while mic’d up. Surely, Charles Barkley will ask him about it.
