NBA legend Vince Carter's Atlanta home burglarized, nearly $100K stolen

NBA legend Vince Carter and his family were victims of a burglary on Sunday after their Atlanta area home was broken into had nearly $100,000 stolen, according to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports.

The burglary occurred around 11:50 p.m. with Carter’s wife and two kids present inside the house when it happened.

Per the report, Carter’s wife, Sondi, called 911 after she became frightened by loud noises and took her two sons into the bedroom closet. From there, she heard the burglars going through their belongings in other rooms.

An off-duty Atlanta cop from the neighborhood patrol was the first on the scene and saw a man wearing a mask and all-black clothing flee the property before escaping in an SUV.

When officers arrived, they found the front window of the home broken and $16,100 worth of $100 bills scattered outside the gated home.

The police also recovered two guns at his home, a Desert Eagle belonging to Carter and a Glock 26 with an extended clip that is believed to belong to the thief.

Carter, who spoke to the police by phone, said the cash was from a brown bag in his closet that had $100,000 in it, per the police documents.

Nobody was hurt as police are still conducting an investigation to find the suspects. They have photographed the scene and collected surveillance video from the cameras on property.
