OAKLAND (95.7 The Game) -- On Tuesday night, shortly after Kevin Durant stepped to the podium and kept it brief, Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic dropped a powerhouse of a piece on the simmering drama enveloping the NBA's preeminent superpower.
Among myriad nuggets, one unnamed Golden State Warriors teammate told Thompson that the damage done looks irreparable.
"With what was said, there is already no way Durant is coming back," the player said. "The only hope is that they can say this summer, 'See, KD. We've got your back. We protected you from Draymond.'"
As both Yahoo Sports' Chris B. Haynes and Thompson both reported, Green called Durant a 'b----" multiple times. Green is frustrated by way that Durant allowed contract situation to fester and hang over the season.
The situation has reached such a fever pitch that Stephen Curry paid a visit to Green's home before Tuesday's win over the Atlanta Hawks. This passage from Thompson is staggering.
For those keeping score at home, the earliest Green will speak on the record will come Thursday before the Warriors pay a visit to the Houston Rockets.
