For a moment, it looked as though the Cowboys had made the momentum play they needed to get back into their matchup with the Broncos at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 16-0 in the third quarter, Dallas wideout Malik Turner blocked a punt deep in Denver territory, seemingly giving Dallas the football in scoring position.
However, that was not the case.
Why? Well, since Dallas rookie defensive back Nahshon Wright touched the football beyond the line of scrimmage, the ball once again became live.
With the ball once again live, Denver was free to recover the football as though it was a muffed punt, which is exactly what they did, giving them the football back with a fresh set of downs.

As a result, Dallas' once game-changing momentum play, was rendered inconsequential, and with new life, the Broncos took advantage, moving the football down the field for a field goal, extending their lead to 19-0.
Dallas has not been shut out since the 2018 season in a 23-0 loss to Indianapolis.
