We’re almost a month into the 2021 MLB season and some team managers are flying high, while some are already in the hot seat. The betting odds are already out on which manager will be the first to get the boot this year.

Among those in the running for first manager to be fired is the man at the helm of the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone. The odds are currently at +1100 as his team carries a 5-10 record and sits in last place in the AL East. Despite the odds, the Yankees organization still seems to support Boone through this tough start to the season.

Will he be the first manager axed? At this rate, it’s definitely possible. His fellow contenders on the list include Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black (+900) in first place, with Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, New York Mets manager Luis Rojas, and Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde all tied at +950. Los Angeles Angels manager Joe Maddon is right behind Boone at +1200.

The Rockies are 4-12 and in the last place spot in the NL West. It seems Black is trying to do whatever he can to cope with Colorado’s rough season so far, including trying to light a spark under his guys.

If Black doesn’t get fired first, it’s not out of the question to say it could be the Yankees manager. There is, of course, a whole Twitter account dedicated to it.

And when I say dedicated, the person who runs this account tweets every single day. Dedication.

Boone has to do something soon to fire up his players and bring this New York team back to life. Both for the sake of his players and his job, and of course to keep that Twitter account in business.
