A man who was reported missing just hours before was found dead inside a massive dinosaur statue in a suburb of Barcelona, Spain.

According to Newsweek, a father and son were hanging around the statue when they noticed a distinct smell. Upon investigation, the father was able to spot the dead body in the statue from a crack in the dinosaur's hollow leg.

The father then alerted authorities who arrived on the scene to extract the body. They are unsure how the body got inside the statue to begin with, but suspect that the man crawled inside to retrieve his lost phone.

The man had been reported missing by his family a few hours before his body was found. The man had been away from his family for two days before they filed the report.

Several firefighters were also deployed to the scene to help with the extraction. They were able to saw off multiple parts of the dinosaur in order to retrieve the body.

The statue, which acted as an advertisement for a now-closed movie theater, has since been removed entirely.

Police are still awaiting results of the autopsy to determine how the man died but they do not suspect any criminality was involved in the man's death.
