Double the twos, double the fun.
Tuesday marks a palindrome: It’s Feb. 22, 2022, or 2/22/22.
A palindrome is a sequence that reads the same backward and forward.
The date carries a lot of weight from scientific and mathematical perspectives. Mathematicians all around the world, including Babak Esalami, associate professor at Widener University, are celebrating this series of twos because it’s simply so improbable.
“Basically, having the numbers two for February and 22nd for the day and the number 2022 is a very, very rate event,” Eslami explained. “Having twos in that sequence is very low. It’s only four in 1 million days that such a thing happens.”
Even more so, one aspect makes it even more exciting.
“It’s on the second day of the week, the Tuesday, makes it especially more rare,” he said.
