Joe Giglio made the case for why Jason Kelce is the greatest player in Philadelphia Eagles history.
"I'm not saying this because today is the day we are celebrating Jason Kelce, I am saying it because I mean it. Jason Kelce is the greatest Eagle of all-time," Giglio said at the beginning of Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show.
"I think part of the reason the emotion is so strong is because this isn't just a great player, it is the greatest Eagle of all-time. I understand there have been some amazing football players that have worn this uniform...But Jason Kelce, for me, is the greatest Eagle of all-time for a lot of reasons.
1. Performance: "His play, six-time All-Pro. There are no questions about his play. He is a future Pro Football Hall Of Famer."
2. Lifelong Eagle: "He also did it all here in an Eagle uniform, he never played anywhere else."
3. Winner: "He won the Super Bowl, he's the face of that. He gave the parade speech."
4. Success under Jason Kelce: "Nick Foles, who was not a great QB, had a 27-2 year. Carson Wentz, who wasn't a great QB, played like an MVP. Jalen Hurts, who hasn't proven yet to be a great QB, had an MVP caliber season. They went two Super Bowls and averaged 38 points a game. Record setting in terms of games. You add in the fact that he's an everyman and you can have a beer with him, I mean this is the greatest Eagle of all-time."
"He spanned four coaches," Giglio added. "He connects all of the dots in Eagles history. He played for Andy Reid. He won a Super Bowl. He went to a second Super Bowl. It's almost like he was the man in the background that eventually we realized was at the forefront of all of it."
National NFL analyst Kyle Brandt took it one step further, saying Kelce may be the greatest Philadelphia athlete ever, period.
