NFL legends congratulate Saquon Barkley on historic 2K yard season
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made history on Sunday, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.
Here is the list of players to reach the 2K milestone:
1973 — O.J. Simpson (2,003 yards)
2024 — Saquon Barkley (2,005 yards)
2009 — Chris Johnson (2,006 yards)
1998 — Terrell Davis (2,008 yards)
2020 — Derrick Henry (2,027 yards)
1997 — Barry Sanders (2,053 yards)
2003 — Jamal Lewis (2,066 yards)
2012 — Adrian Peterson (2,097 yards)
1984 — Eric Dickerson (2,105 yards)
Johnson, Davis, Sanders' offensive lineman Ray Roberts and former Eagle Michael Vick congratulated Barkley on X.
Barkley finished Sunday's blowout of the Cowboys with 167 rushing yards, giving him 2,005 on the season, putting him just 101 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson's single season record of 2,105 with one game to go.
Of course, with nothing left to play for in the regular season and the NFC's two seed locked up, the debate shifts to whether or not Philadelphia so play Barkley and let him go for the record.
