Joyner: Eagles' loss without Jalen Hurts shows his value

Seth Joyner's biggest takeaway from yesterday's Eagles loss to the Commanders is the value of Jalen Hurts.

"An opportunity for [the media] to open their eyes to see just how important he is to this offense," Joyner told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show.

"Different quarterbacks mean different things to different teams in different schemes...People need to stop this nonsense that any QB can come in here with this amount of talent, this amount of ability and set the league on fire because there's only a handful of quarterbacks in the NFL that can do what Jalen Hurts does and add to the running game and the passing game the way that he does...If Jalen Hurts plays in that game yesterday the Eagles' score 40 points and beat the damn breaks off of the Washington Commanders, that's just a damn fact."

The Eagles were forced to play the majority of Sunday's game at the Commanders without Hurts, who suffered a concussion on Philadelphia's second offensive drive with the first resulting in a touchdown. Hurts completed just 1 of four passes for 11 yards, but had three carries for 41 yards on the ground.

The Eagles ended up blowing a lead, allowing 20 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 36-33 loss. Barkley, who had over 100 yards rushing in the first quarter alone with Hurts in the game—including a 68-yard touchdown run— finished with just 150 yards on 29 carries.
