Richmond, VA _ Richmond Police detained an armed man early Saturday near the Robert E. Lee Monument. The man was on top of a building being renovated in the 1800 block of Monument Avenue.
Police requested that people stay clear of the area while they searched the building to see whether there were any hidden dangers inside. It was not clear whether the individual detained was authorized to be inside the building being renovated.
The call followed a night of peaceful demonstrations at the Monument site which featured fireworks, drummers, and Petersburg-native and national recording artist Trey Songz.
