Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield County is announcing the furloughing of 500 positions, as a result of the coronavirus economic downturn.  Some of the positions are currently vacant, around 10%

The employees will not be paid past April 4th, but the county is maintaining health benefits.  The county says it is hoping to bring the positions back when the pandemic ends and hopefully, the economy improves.


The county receives almost 40% of its revenue from retail sales and travel, as well as state revenue passed down.
