(HANOVER COUNTY, Va.) -- On Sunday night, about 10:15 p.m., deputies in Hanover County responded to a two vehicle crash in the 7100 Mechanicsville Turnpike, westbound near the intersection of Old Hickory Drive. Upon arrival, both vehicles were overturned.
It was determined that a 2019 Honda SUV, operated by a 71 year old woman with two juvenile occupants, was traveling west on Mechanicsville Turnpike. The Honda ran off the right side of the highway and struck a culvert. The Honda went airborne and struck a 2004 Range Rover operated by a 46 year old man with one juvenile occupant.
The Range Rover was not moving and was at the exit of a restaurant parking lot. Both vehicles overturned as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Range Rover was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving occupant of the Range Rover, along with the three occupants of the Honda were transported by EMS to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Identities of those involved are being withheld pending notification to the families.
