Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam says he will have more to say on reopening parts of Virginia on Monday. The Governor made the comments during his most recent briefing on coronavirus. The Governor's order, closing non-essential businesses, is supposed to expire next Friday, but has been extended once.
Northam says Virginia actually closed less than other states, so in some cases, states that are reopening are only getting to where Virginia is now. For example, Virginia never closed beaches to exercise, and many businesses could remain open if they could accomodate social distancing.
The Northam Administration also says testing is improving, a step in the process to getting Virginia reopened. Currently, 581 people in Virginia have died from coronavirus.
