(RICHMOND, Va.) -- There are no confirmed Coronavirus cases in Virginia, but the state is prepared should there eventually be an outbreak. Governor Northam says that the state is closely monitoring the situation and taking the threat seriously.
State Secretary of Finance Aubrey Layne says the governor and his team will have all the financial resources it needs. For example, in the next 90 days, $3.6 million will be available to obtain personal protection equipment for health workers as well as communication materials that will be going out to the public.
Northam says that testing for Coronavirus will take place at the state labs, which will eliminate the delay of testing results when tests are sent to the C.D.C in Atlanta.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Lillian Peake says that 17 people have been tested and 14 were determined not to have the virus. Three tests are pending. She does stress that there is no vaccine or treatment for this and urges those who are sick to stay home and stay way from healthy people.
