Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam, concerned about an increase in coronavirus cases, especially in Hampton Roads, has announced increased enforcement of regulations designed to stop the spread.  Northam says local health districts have been reminded of their authority, and a team has been created to do unannounced checks at restuarants and other locations to make sure rules, like mask requirements, are being followed.

Northam says they are seeing a spike in cases, especially in Hampton Roads, and esepcially among younger adults.  He's also asking businesses to step up their enforcement as well.

The Governor says given the current situation, he does not see a move to Phase 4 of coronavirus reopening anytime soon.  Republicans, meanwhile, have said asking business to enforce the rules puts them in an "untenable position."
