Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) --  Richmond has announced its first four cases of coronavirus.  Three of the cases are related to a Henrico case, resulting from a trip to North Carolina.  The fourth Richmond case is in a person who traveled to New York City and came into contact with a patient there.

Richmond Health District Director Dr. Danny Avula says health inspectors are out checking to make sure restuarants are complying with the 10 person rule.  Avula says this is happening statewide.  Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney says they are planning to offer hard-hit restuarants tax amnesty.

Statewide, the number of cases is now up to 77.  Governor Ralph Northam says there is now a growing need for blood, because drives have been cancelled.   Northam planned to give on Wednesday.  The administration is also asking parents who do not work at essential jobs to remain home with their kids, so that day care clots can remain open for the children of health care workers.

Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover have now all announced they plan to extend their school closures through spring break.  Richmond made the same announcement earlier in the week.
