Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police say they have made two arrests tied to recent protests in the city. The incidents allegedly occurred during protests in July and August.
Nicholas Smith is charged with discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of school property for an alleged incident on North Granby Street on July 26, 2020. Video of the incident, which shows a male exiting a black truck and firing a shot into the ground, was shared widely on social media.
Lawrence West is charged with malicious wounding for an alleged assault on August 14, 2020 on Monument Avenue near Lee cCrcle at Monument and Allen avenues. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
