New Kent, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Police have identified the father who took his four year old son, and held him at knifepoint in New Kent, following a pursuit. Thirty-two year old Bryan Valdez faces charges that include child endangerment, abduction by force, and eluding.
State Police say Valdez took his son in Norfolk, then fled up I-64. Troopers eventually tracked him down in New Kent County, leading to a chase where speeds got up to 100 miles per hour. Police also say the chase ended when Valdez hit a state police vehicle twice, and flipped over. Valdez then allegedly took the son out of the car at knifepoint, and ran into the roads. State Police were able to eventually calm the situation, arrest Valdez, and rescue the boy.
Both were eventually checked out at a hospital.
Valdez likely will face additional charges from both State Police and Norfolk Police
