
(DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va.) -- Early Friday morning just before 4 a.m., State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash with a confirmed fatality on northbound I-85 at the 62.2 mile marker.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a tractor-trailer was traveling northbound in the left lane when it ran off the road, striking several trees and overturning on the passenger side. The vehicle then caught on fire.
The driver died at the scene. The deceased remains will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination, autopsy and positive identification.
The crash remains under investigation.
