Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - UPDATE:  Richmond Police now say three officers were injured in last night's protest, and that several city vehicles were damaged, and property vandalized.

ORIGINAL:  State Police say two troopers were injured as they helped Richmond Police in a standoff with protestors Sunday night.  A State Police spokeswoman says one of the troopers was hit by a chunk of asphalt in the leg, and another was hit by an object in the head, but was mostly protected by his helmet.  Richmond Police say one woman was arrested during the incident.  Michaela Hatton, 22, was charged with conspiracy to incite a riot, and assault and battery.

The protest followed an incident Saturday evening in which a Richmond Police van knocked over a protestor at low speed.  The van had been blocked in by demonstrators, and Police say one of their officers was assaulted during that situation.  Video does not show the assault but also only shows one side of the car.  Police did release pictures they say are of damage to the vehicle by thrown objects.

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney has asked the officer involved in the driving incident be placed on leave until the investigation is completed.
